About a month ago I headed east to shoot a dying thunderstorm near Gold Canyon, Arizona. I managed to get 1 or 2 shots from the dying storm but a few more storms popped up south and north of where I had setup. I was able to shoot several lightning shots of the storm to the south, coming out of Florence, and ended the night shooting this cell moving east from Gold Canyon to Superior. Shot on my Fuji X-T1 and processed in Lightroom.

Last week I took a short trip to Utah for a wedding. I always enjoy taking the scenic routes on this drive and the Nebo Loop scenic byway never disappoints. Last time I was here it was in full Fall color, covered in fog and lightly snowing, which made for some dramatic landscape photos. With limited time, I stopped at a few cool lookouts and this beautiful spot. Shot on my Fuji X-T1 and processed in Lightroom.

Here are a few more favorites from my trip to the Grand Canyon last month. I was lucky enough to capture several strikes close to sunset with great light hitting the canyon walls. Shot on my Fuji X-T1 and processed in Adobe Lightroom.

This image is from the storm two weeks ago, just east of Gold Canyon. This one stands out to me as an iconic southwestern scene during a classic summer monsoon storm. I especially like the orange glow from the setting sun and city lights, the iconic Saguaro cacti, coupled with the storm and lightning strikes. Shot on my Fuji X-T1 and processed in Adobe Lightroom.

It was the end of a really long and good chase day. Bryan Snider and I met up with Scott Wood just east of Safford, Arizona. There were several storms around us and this one was moving away rapidly. I had already shot quite a bit of lightning and decided to shoot some long exposures, capturing the stars, lights in the distance and the illumination of the clouds as lightning continued to flash. Captured on my Fuji X-T1 and processed in Adobe Lightroom.
